Organization of the “Recerca Dating” Event
The biochemist and Nobel Prize winner in Medicine, Sydney Brenner, once said that “collaboration without interdisciplinary boundaries fosters a culture of freedom and a way to challenge new dogmas.” But in such a competitive and demanding field as science, how can bridges be built and connections strengthened across disciplines?
With this idea in mind, we embarked on one of our latest projects: organizing an interdepartmental speed-dating event for the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya. This is how we brought together 100 researchers from diverse fields such as health, art, humanities, communication, and information sciences to exchange insights, question their research lines, and interact in an atmosphere of “freedom.” The result? Over 300 speed meetings that we hope will mark the beginning of many collaborative scientific projects at the frontiers of knowledge.

After the event, we would like to thank the research sub-directors of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Arts and Humanities, and Information and Communication Sciences for their original idea, boldness, and dedication, as well as the trust they placed in us.
