Twitter community management for VHIO

In January 2019, we launched a new Twitter account for the Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (@VHIO) – a multidisciplinary translational cancer research centre located in Barcelona. 

We spent the months leading up to the account launch meeting with VHIO’s Director of Communications and mapping out their strategic communications goals and how these could be achieved in the context of Twitter. Namely, their key objectives were to establish an online community of oncological research professionals, and position themselves as international leaders in the field.

We collaborated with this prestigious institute for almost two years. During this time, we tweeted about important research publications, promoted VHIO-organised events, covered international congresses, and ran election campaigns, among other activities. 

The account gained almost 3000 followers over the year and half that we were managing it. Importantly, it has brought VHIO’s research, news and developments to a wider audience of experts, healthcare professionals and patients. 

It was a pleasure to collaborate with such a prestigious institute, and we wish them every success in the future!
