As always, we fully committed ourselves to designing a ceremony worthy of the project. After months of work, last October we held the event where we met the second generation of Jes\u00fas Serra scholars: 12 young people who are building a community ready to overcome every barrier. This year the challenge was twofold, as the ceremony coincided with the programme\u2019s first in-person training sessions \u2014 a key meeting point for scholars from both editions \u2014 including workshops designed to strengthen their soft skills.<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On<strong> October 3rd<\/strong>, <strong>Fundaci\u00f3n Occident\u2019s offices in M\u00e9ndez \u00c1lvaro<\/strong> (Madrid) hosted the award ceremony for the <strong>second edition of the Jes\u00fas Serra Undergraduate Scholarships<\/strong>. The event brought together the new scholars and their families, the beneficiaries of the first edition, the evaluation committee and Foundation representatives. It was much more than a diploma ceremony: it was a celebration of education as a driver of social transformation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The true value of this project lies in the Jes\u00fas Serra scholars themselves. For this reason, UbiK media designed the ceremony as a warm and close setting where<strong> they were the main protagonists<\/strong>. The event highlighted the academic achievements of twelve outstanding students who will either be the first members of their families to attend university or the first women to pursue STEM degrees.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><iframe title=\"vimeo-player\" data-src=\"https:\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/1167326329?h=6d209c19c9\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" src=\"about:blank\" class=\"lazyload\" data-load-mode=\"0\"><\/iframe><br \/>\n<em>Video produced by UbiK media that kicked off the ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><b><br \/>\nA ceremony full of special moments<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">During the ceremony, hosted by journalist<strong> Marina Ribel<\/strong>, several particularly emotional moments took place. Among them were speeches by <strong>Beatriz Sig\u00fcenza<\/strong>, Director of Fundaci\u00f3n Balia and member of the evaluation committee, and <strong>Jaume Ripoll<\/strong>, Director of FILMIN, who closed the event.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Jaume, who had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/Fund_Occident\/status\/1881698033928163628?s=20\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">previously collaborated with the Jes\u00fas Serra Scholarships<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> through the online mentoring and training programme, shared his personal experience and encouraged the scholars to nurture their curiosity throughout this new stage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cI was the first person in my family to go to university, and if I have learned one thing throughout my career it is that culture does not always give us answers, but it does raise questions. After receiving their diplomas \u2014 and posing for the traditional commemorative photograph \u2014 the twelve scholars had the opportunity to talk with the event moderator, allowing us to get to know them better and discover the stories behind each of them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>A programme designed to help them reach their full potential<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As in the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ubikmedia.net\/en\/conception-and-communicative-strategy-of-the-jesus-serra-graduate-scholarships\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">first edition<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, twelve scholarships were awarded in this second call, divided into two access pathways: <strong>Pathway 1, First-generation university students<\/strong>, aimed at students from any field of knowledge; and <strong>Pathway 2, Women in STEM<\/strong>, aimed at women who are the first in their families to pursue degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The goal of these scholarships is clear: <strong>to help overcome barriers<\/strong> and ensure that talent and motivation are not limited by students\u2019 socioeconomic backgrounds. We are proud to have been involved since the very beginning and to continue supporting its growth.
